Welcome your baby to your family, your community and to the world in which we live! Julia Denny will work with you to design a service that truly meets your needs.
You don't have to be religious, although Julia will incorporate prayers and religious elements if you wish, to have a baby naming, welcoming service non-denominational Christening.
People are sometimes confused as to what their options are for a baby
welcoming, naming or "christening" service, especially
if their family is not a religious. A baby naming or welcoming ceremony
can take place anywhere - at your home, in a garden, at a function
centre or in a chapel.
Services I have designed have incorporated things like:
- family members and friends talking about their hopes for the new family member, both formally and informally throughout the service;
- music that celebrates life and family love;
- poetry and readings from the classics, bush ballads, modern poets or from people known to the person;
- the lighting of a white candle during the service
- family members and friends placing items that signify the heritage and history of the family the baby now belongs to such as photos, dolls, memorabilia, books etc.
You'll receive a beautiful certificate to commemorate the event which your child can keep forever and a presentation copy of the service as a keepsake.
Talk to Julia about your options for rituals for your ceremony. You may like to incorporate a parents' promise or your child's Zodiac profile.
- You can have a table, decorations and table cloth of your choice
- A Certificate of your choice will be provided
